2010: What a Year

a letter from an editor …

I wanted to end the year on such a high note, with an absolutely killer, well-designed, well-planned and well-thought-out blog.

But alas, a serious lack of time and energy have not allowed my year-end wish to come to fruition.

So instead, I ask you, the five people who will read this, to indulge me, as you have some many times this year.

This site means a lot to me. It’s given me the chance to reclaim my identity as a writer. However, this site in 2010 became more than just a reclamation project and creative outlet for myself and my co-founder Brent Johnson. It became something special.

Over the last 365 days, we have done so much more than we ever could have ever excepted.

110,000 views. A staff of writers. Connections with PR agencies across the country. Making WordPress’ Freshly Pressed List. Being included in artists’ press clippings. Industry professionals loving our site. Re-igniting people’s passions for writing.

This is not something we thought would happen when posted our first two pieces on Kenny Loggins and The Mike Dalton Band.

2011 is on the horizon, and in my heart, I know great things are coming for us. A new name? A new design? Big, better and badder interviews? New writers?

All definite possibilities.

2011 will be an exciting one, and I am almost giddy over what it holds.

But looking back on 2010, my mind is blown. I can’t believe the steps we took as a blog. Even when the chips were down, when schedules were unbelievably tight — we pulled through.

And we pulled through due to the work of Logan Fowler. He came through for us — delivering weekly posts, and saving our collective bacon. With Brent and I killing ourselves at our jobs in the summer, it was Logan who buoyed this blog with well-written and highly popular posts. Thank you, my friend.

So to all of you who have become regular readers, have become writers for our site, who have surfed in to grab a picture of Carrie Underwood (thousands did, mind-blowing), who granted us interviews and who have supported us — thank you for making 2010 an amazing year for this little WordPress site that could.
