Trailer Tuesday: Brave

bill bodkin and logan j. fowler are very animated about the new pixar film…

Theater, Rent, No Thanks, Undecided? Theater. I have high hopes for Brave. After Pixar dropped the ball they were carrying so well with Cars 2, a sequel put out pretty much to push merchandise, they have hopefully locked back into their groove with a tale regarding their first real female hero. The trailer doesn’t give off a strong positive vibe, but as I’ve seen in previous Pixar trailers (hey, The Incredibles trailer was kind of ho hum, but that film has become my favorite movie of all time, so there you go), they tend to stand by the old “less is more” motto. Brave, if anything, will be a fun time at the movies, and if doesn’t reach the moral status of previous Pixar movies then that’s OK. However, you can’t end your trailer with “If you had the chance to change your fate, would you?” and not expect something beneath the story’s surface. In any case, I’ll be supporting the studio and seeing the film at some point circa release. –LJF

Theater, Rent, No Thanks, Undecided? Theater. I really love Pixar movies. While, my Trailer Tuesday colleague is a little more open about his love for the animation studio, I too have an undying affinity for the films Pixar produces. I cried like a wee child during the film Up, I was enchanted by Wall-E, I maintain that The Incredibles is one of the better superhero movies ever made and of course, you can never go wrong with any of the Toy Story films or Monsters Inc. So when Pixar presents a movie involving swords and kilts and a female character that reminds me of an older, Scottish version of my youngest niece, I say sign me up. I have no doubt in my mind Brave is going to be chock full of laughs, a terrific plot and some really, genuine, heartfelt moments to it. –BB
