Theater, Rent, No Thanks, Undecided? Rent. Hitchcock looks like a stylish slice of American cinema. Based around the director’s most celebrated work, Psycho (a movie I watched for the first time this past Halloween), the film focuses on the relationship between Alfred and his wife and their search for the main female role in the 1960 horror film. Anthony Hopkins looks like he’s having a ball as the eccentric filmmaker, Helen Mirren (as Hitchcock’s spouse) also looks to be having some fun of her own, and damn, could Scarlett Johansson look anymore like Janet Leigh? All in all, this movie just seems like a good time, but while I don’t think I’ll have time to check it out in theaters, it’s definitley going to be on the top of the rental pile for sue. –LJF

Theater, Rent, No Thanks, Undecided? Rent. After watching HBO’s The Girl, I’m hoping that the big screen adaptation of Hitchcock’s life will be more of a movie rather than a showcase for two strong performances. Hitchcock is a film that will undoubtedly garner a lot of Oscar attention — and I’m kinda interested. But only kinda. The trailer is still a bit vague about what we’re actually going to experience in the film. I’m only seeing performance performance performance, no plot…and since that’s what The Girl was about, why would I plop a ten spot down to see this in theaters? –BB
