Theater, Rent, No Thanks, Undecided? Rent. It was only just a matter of time until someone put the Osama Bin Laden hunt story to celluloid. Assembled by the same team behind the award winning Hurt Locker, Zero Dark Thirty tells the tale of operatives working on the down low looking for the infamous terrorist. The film looks to be insanely compelling and has a rock solid cast to boot, mostly filled with people that have a smaller Hollywood history, which I think works better for the movie anyway. In addition, the Oscar buzz for this movie makes it worth a watch as well. With all that said, since I don’t think I’ll be able to check it out in theaters, this will definitley be on top of the rental pile when it hits that given market. –LJF

Theater, Rent, No Thanks, Undecided? Theater. When the initial trailer for Zero Dark Thirty hit the streets I was a bit concerned. A movie about the Bin Laden capture already? However, when it was revealed that Kathryn Bigelow was at the helm of this film, I breathed a sigh of relief. Bigelow was the driving force behind The Hurt Locker, which was absolutely fantastic and of course, who could forget she was the genius that gave us the 90s cult classic Point Break.

Bigelow has a history of orchestrating thrilling action sequences in all her films and as evidenced in Hurt Locker, she knows how to draw great performances out of her cast. And with three of today’s premier character actors: Mark Strong, Jessica Chastain and Joel Edgerton at her disposal, I think Zero Dark Thirty will not only match Hurt Locker in terms of action but surpass it in terms of ensemble acting (it’s going to be hard for anyone to beat Jeremy Renner’s performance in Hurt Locker). To me, this is my pick for Best Picture, so it’s an absolute must-see in theaters. –BB
