When I first found out Whose Line it Is it Anyway was returning with three of the original cast members from their ABC run (Wayne Brady, Ryan Stiles, Colin Mochrie), I was totally stoked. Whose Line was a huge part of my childhood, and I couldn’t wait to see episodes with a more modern twist. The only thing that was disappointing about all of this was Drew Carey wasn’t on board… (but we’ll get to that later).

Though I was excited for a while, it wasn’t until moments before the new episodes aired when I thought, “What if this sucked?” Sure, we have most of all of the stars back, but together will they be able to make us laugh once again?

The answer my friends: YES. Let’s dissect what went on in tonight’s premiere, shall we?

Favorite Skit Overall: I think hands down, the best skit tonight was the return of “Let’s Make a Date.” Colin’s portrayal as the robot that malfunctions unless he kisses someone was hilarious. I couldn’t stop laughing when kissed Ryan and Wayne! It was definitely the highlight of the night!

Favorite Throwback Skit: Back in the day, Wayne Brady was my favorite cast member, so the obvious choice here is “Song Styles.” This episode was particularly special too since Brady had to make up a gospel track for Glee’s Kevin McHale (who was the celebrity guest star). I loved how he joined in with Brady in the song. It was really adorable to see them both sing together and to see the other cast members get into it in the background.

Favorite New Skit: I’m not sure what they titled it, but the skit where Ryan and Colin were looking through the bags of two female audience members. I thought that was a really clever idea that brought a ton of laughs! I also was a huge fan of the audience involvement in the last installment of Whose Line, so I was happy the producers didn’t completely throw that away.

Throwback Skit that Was Missing: Hoedown! Seriously, how was there not ONE in the first two episodes since 2004! Shameful!

Biggest Disappointment: The only thing I was really disappointed with was Aisha Tyler’s performance as a host. Within the first few minutes, she went from “promising” to “not fun to watch.” I mean, she has no enthusiasm and watching her was as essentially as entertaining as paint drying. She didn’t even seem excited or entertain any dialogue when giving out the points that don’t really matter! I vote we somehow get Drew Carey back… or at least have someone funny (like George Lopez) replace her!

Who Really Deserved the Most Points Tonight: Mostly everyone did a great job tonight. I can’t wait for more laughs next week.

Whose Line Is It Anyway? airs Tuesdays at 8pm on The CW Network
