TV Recap: Super Fun Night, Series Premiere

By now I’ve read several reviews that are calling Super Fun Night the worst pilot this season. That made me sad because, as basically all of America does at this point, I love Rebel Wilson. She’s just got this amazing sense of comedic timing, and I’ve seen her do improv – she comes up with the most absurd things and makes them work completely. She’s a great comedian. But we’ve never seen her write before, and some people just can’t carry all hats.

Do I think this was worse than Dads (I have heard people say that it is)? Absolutely not. I had equally low expectations for both. But Super Fun Night doesn’t have an obnoxious laugh track that’s practically louder than the dialogue, and the production value and actors don’t feel lazy. Everyone wanted to be there, which is a lot more than I can say for the Dads pilot.

I chuckled mildly, I enjoyed Rebel’s performance. Yeah, some of the jokes fell flat and some of it was just plain uncomfortable. But… I didn’t hate it. And I would be more than willing to tune in for episodes 2 and 3 to see what they have to offer.

However, I do have a problem with the last name of the main character being Boobier. I mean, seriously Rebel? That was the best you could come up with?
