Press Release: New Jersey singer-songwriter Colton Kayser is a familiar face in the thriving Asbury Park music scene. You may run into him at Lakehouse Studios, where he recorded his debut album, or catch him playing a set down the road at The Asbury Lanes. His fun-loving nature pairs perfectly with his expressive lyrics and charming melodies.

Kayer’s self-titled debut album has been an anticipated one—as Kayser has gained a strong local fan base prior to releasing any official material. The album will be released digitally and physically on February 7th, 2014 at his official CD release show at The Saint in Asbury Park, NJ. Performing on the show will also be Lighting Jar, Cranston Dean, We Used to Cut the Grass, and Joe Miller.

Admission is $10 and comes with a copy of the new album. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Influenced by Bob Dylan and buffalo wings, Kayser mixes rock, folk, country, and pop music styles, and places a strong emphasis on lyrical content and melodic structure. “Writing music allows me to process the world around me as well as release a lot of pent up emotion. It’s how I deal with the tougher sides of life,”
says Kayser. Playing music since he was a child, his passion for it has become an “obsession,” he describes.

The charismatic songwriter’s talents have not gone unnoticed, with nominations for Top Male Acoustic Act in the Asbury Music Awards in 2011, 2012, and 2013, and Top New Male Act at the 2012 Jersey Acoustic Music Awards.

Now available for streaming on SoundCloud is his debut single “You and I.” Also, check out his official website.
