Plot: Frank (Kevin Spacey) and the President (Michel Gill) damage their relationship with Raymond Tusk (Gerald McRaney), causing Tusk to partner with Remy (Mahershala Ali) to take Frank down. Lucas (Sebastian Arcelus) gets arrested for cyber-terrorism. Doug (Michael Kelly) grows fond of Rachel (Rachel Brosnahan). Claire (Robin Wright) opens up publicly about her sexual assault.

A LOT has gone on since Frank Underwood threw Zoe Barnes (Kate Mara) in front of the subway car. So much so that I’m not even sure I can fit it all in this review. There’s a lot of new characters on the show this season, some of which have the potential to be Underwood’s next kill. I have a few ideas of who is next in mind, but I will save all of my thoughts on that once this season comes to a close.

I will say that I like this season (so far) better than the first season. It’s more engaging. There’s a lot more for Underwood to work with and subsequently a lot more roadblock in the road to the presidency. As a victim of anti-hero syndrome, I am rooting for him and Claire. Believe me, I don’t want to. It’s hard for me to even admit that.

Anyway, I know you’re either finished or still trying to get through the series, so I will make this brief. Here’s what I approve and disapprove of so far this season:

Hooray! This is awesome!:

*Claire Becoming More Prominent This Season: I love Kevin Spacey A LOT, but Robin Wright does an incredible job as Claire. I love that we’re learning more about her character and her relationship with her husband. Every powerful man needs a powerful woman by his side, and Claire is a force to be reckoned with.

*Raymond Tusk is the “Anti-Villian”: Raymond Tusk didn’t mean much to me other than the President’s very powerful friend last season. But now, he’s a major player, and an enemy, and I like that.

*Linda Resigned: Linda, who was the President’s Chief of Staff from the start, has been and continued to be SO ANNOYING. I was getting sick of her back and forth with Frank. So when she resigned this season, I was elated. The President has so many people in his ear now that a lot of what she was saying was starting to fall to the wayside anyway. It is nice not to hear her yapping.

*Louis’ brief appearance: Louis’ failed investigation was a huge sigh of relief. There’s a small part of me that is anticipating an unwanted return, but in the meantime, I’m glad I don’t have to see anymore of him.

*Jackie: Jackie (Molly Parker) is the newest congressperson this season and her willingness to do whatever it takes to get what she wants in her career is inspiring. Do I think she is ruthless? Absolutely. Do I think my opinions might change about her once the finale comes? Hell yes. I don’t trust her. I know she’s going to backstab Underwood. But I can’t fault her for wanting to be a woman in power.

Boo, this is awful:

*Remy: Remy has been my least favorite character since Season 1, and he still is this season. His beef with Claire was totally forgettable and the fact that he is trying to take down Frank NOW is total bullshit. I wasn’t going to say what my guesses were for Underwood’s next kill, but screw it. I hope it’s Remy.

*Freddy’s Ribs Gets Involved: It’s great that Freddy’s Ribs got some success from Underwood’s endorsement, but something seems fishy here and I don’t like it.

*Most of the “Politics”: The Chinese? The Indians? I’m confused on what the hell is happening internationally here. There’s too many different players. I wish the writer’s just stuck with one international problem at a time.

*The New Journalist: Who the fuck is this girl? Why do I care? I feel like there should have been more development here. She’s been in so many scenes without even a mention of a name. I need more information.

*Rachel’s Life and Doug in General: Doug is so creepy this season and his hold on Rachel really bothers me. It disgusts me that I’m still watching her text him her every move. I just want it to stop.

I have about three-four episodes to go and then you’ll hear from me about the finale! What is your favorite thing about this season? Are you rooting for “the bad guys” too?
