Pre-Trailer Thoughts: Book that is pretty much in nobody’s mindset right now gets a movie. –LJF

Pre-Trailer Thoughts: They’re taking a classic novel and YA-ing the hell out of it? Blargh. –BB

Rate the Trailer (1-5): Two out of five. Soldiers clad in white and flying air crafts that beam stuff up? What is this, a spin-off to The Hunger Games? No, not really, but the atmosphere and music make you feel like it could be. Honestly, I remember digging the book when I was younger, but it’s been so long, and this trailer really does not make me that interested. –LJF

Rate the Trailer (1-5): One out of five. Wow, they just Hunger Games-ed the shit out of this didn’t they? I mean how many dystopian YA movies can you have in one year? –BB

Theater, Rent, No Thanks, Undecided? Undecided To throw the movie onto an unknown young actor’s shoulders is a bold move, especially when you have Jeff Bridges and Meryl Streep involved. Whatever the case, I just don’t know if I want to give in to The Giver. It could be a rental, but my interest will probably form around buzz. This is obviously not on the same buzz level as Hunger Games or even Gone Girl, just going off the topics of novels. Guess I’ll wait to see what the reviews are, and then go from there. –LJF

Theater, Rent, No Thanks, Undecided? No Thanks Oh this looks bad. I mean B-A-Double D bad. No matter how good Jeff Bridges and Meryl Streep are, they can’t save this. Why? Because they won’t be the focus of the film, it’ll be the hot young stars and that’s truly a shame. –BB
