9. Major League 2 (1994)

Major_league_ii

People always leave this one for dead because I think everyone assumes it sucked, but nobody actually remembers it.  The original Major League is fantastic, but this was a perfectly fine follow up.  Where this one fails is that it’s much sillier than the original when it comes to the actual baseball stuff.  Pedro Cerrano (Dennis Haysbert) running out to centerfield to heal a bird during actual play, or Tanaka (Takaaki Ishibashi) catching a fly ball with his bare hand for an out?  Yeah, I don’t think so. What makes this sequel work though are the supporting characters. Charlie Sheen, Tom Berenger, and Corbin Bernsen are fine, but it’s the bit players who make this movie what it is. Randy Quaid as the fair weather fan is hilarious, I love Rube the Catcher (Eric Bruskotter), and who doesn’t crack up at every Bob Uecker (the announcer) line.  Him and Monte (Skip Griparis), what a dream team!  You won’t laugh your ass off with Major League 2, but it’s worth another shot.
