2. Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Besides a single line in Avengers, “Look to your elder, people. Let him be an example.” the Marvel Cinematic Universe never really made a great case for Captain America. He just fought single aliens in banks and failed to pull a red levers while the rest of the crew blew up flying metal whales. It wasn’t until The Winter Solider that we really understood why not-so-scrawny Steve Rodgers was on a team with these titans. The Russo brothers knocked it out of the park with a tight emotional action/spy movie that made us question everything we thought we knew about the established MCU power thus far. Newcomers like Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie really held their own alongside true professionals like Robert Redford. And don’t even get me started on the Arnim Zola scene. Sweet Christmas!
