We’re based out of: Point Pleasant Beach & Hoboken, NJ, but we’re both originally from Toms River.

The Story of Our Name: We made a list of words that might sound cool together, and Beachfire was one of them. We also felt the name was sort of a way to pay homage to our roots and inspiration.

Any new music coming out: WE Released our full length debut album, ARCHIVES on July 15, 2014. Two singles will be out Spring ’15 and a second full length in Winter ’15.

You’ve seen us before [in other bands]: HelloRadio

Our sound has been likened to: Nothing specifically, to be honest.  Fans, family and friends will often say they hear a little bit of everything we listen to and have been inspired by in our songs (see artists that inspire us).

Can you talk about the artists that have inspired you? Also, what people in your life have inspired you to create music? There are so many artist that have inspired us in different ways. Sometimes it’s the artist’s lyrics or their style of playing guitar, sometimes it’s their rawness and passion. We pull: Beatles, Zeppelin, Neil Young, Bruce, Tom Petty, U2, Depeche Mode, New Order, Pavement, GBV, Smashing Pumpkins, STP, Pearl Jam, Jimmy Eat World, Saves the Day, Jimmy Eat World, Explosions in the Sky, Ryan Adams, Killers, Gaslight Anthem.

We had a group of close friends and brothers that we played in a number of bands with back in high school, and to this day, we feel like we are just simply continuing to do what was fun to us when we were 16. In way, those experiences inspired us to keep making music.

There are so many bands out there in the Asbury scene to check out — outside of your sound, which no one else really has, what do you think separates Beachfire from everyone else?

Yes there are and we’re fans of many of the them, especially Brick & Mortar. As far as crafting the sound, we like the idea of a wide style range on a record; we like simple acoustic folk songs just as much as bands like Sigur Ros.

If someone read this interview and never heard you before, but decided to check you out, what song would you recommend they listen to in order to understand what Beachfire is all about?<

It’s hard to suggest one, so check out “Summer Dress,” “Static,” and “My Demise” from our debut album, ARCHIVES.

A bit of more broad, sweeping question — what is it that you love about being in Beachfire?

Besides creating music with your best friend, the ability to make music without any limitations or restrictions. That type of artistic freedom is very valuable to us.

What can the people coming out to see you guys perform expect to see from you guys in terms of a live experience?

An intimate but energetic show. We have two lead vocalists so we think that adds to the dynamics of the performance. On the rare occasion we can be funny too!

What do you have planned for the rest of 2014?

Play our last show of the year at the Wonder Bar presented by Happy Mondays/Dark City. Regroup and get ready for a productive 2015, one filled with more shows, new music, and an expanded live band.

Beachfire performs with Pepperwine and The Places You’ve Been at the final Happy Monday of 2014 at Wonder Bar in Asbury Park, NJ.
