I thought Season 2 of the Netflix hit was much better than the first, which I very much enjoyed. Season 2 became more layered and less Piper (Taylor Schilling) -focused, letting many other characters’ backstories flood the canvas and turn the series into the mosaic its opening theme really suggests. It’s hard to say exactly where it’s all heading. In theory, the show could really go on without Piper, though without that anchor, I fear the show could lose the reason many people tuned in: the unknown prison world, because both Piper – and viewers – still probably have a lot to learn. Granted, it’s a TV show, but I have a feeling this show won’t be simmering the crazy anytime soon. Read our coverage of Season 1 and Season of Orange is the New Black here.
