The Top 10 Moments from SNL’s 40th Anniversary Special

8. Paul Simon Performing “Still Crazy After All These Years”

If my memory serves me right, there were a total of four musical performances last night: Paul McCartney doing “Maybe I’m Amazed,” Miley Cyrus(????) singing Paul Simon’s “50 Ways To Leave Your Lover,” Kanye West with Sia and Vic Mensa belting out “Wolves,” and Simon himself with “Still Crazy After All These Years.” All performances were enjoyable, but my favorite by far was the final one. Who better to end the show than Simon who has been around since the very beginning? The man is as skilled as ever too. He did “Still Crazy…” beautifully, and it was obviously done as a celebration of the show which is, literally, still crazy after 40 years. The multi-talented Simon even limited himself to vocals only, letting the SNL band take full control of the song. Those musicians are sadly underrated and it was incredible to watch them take the spotlight for a change.
