The WWE-Ek: Are we there yet?

As many of you might have heard, Hijo del Perro Aguayo, wrestler with the AAA promotion in Mexico, passed away after a match involving former WWE wrestler, Rey Mysterio Jr.

I won’t get into all the rumors and talk, I will say, unfortunately the wrestling business does have its share of injuries and accidents. This is not the first time someone was fatally injured in the ring, and likely not the last. It is a shame it happened at all, but there are dangers in any high-impact sport and unfortunately these things happen.

Not to sound cold, but these are the risks taken in dangerous physical sports.

Moving onto a happier note, SmackDown stole the show this week, and very appropriate, it was Dolph Ziggler who stole the show by winning a Gauntlet match featuring all contestants in the Intercontinental Championship Ladder Match at WrestleMania 31, defeating Daniel Bryan in the final round. Dean Ambrose had a great showing, winning the first two rounds, but was stopped by a rampaging Luke Harper. Daniel Bryan defeated the former Wyatt Family member. After Bryan and Ziggler exchanged a handshake following their round, Wade Barrett delivered some Bad News in the form of a Raging Bull Hammer two both.

Another fantastic addition to the WWE Hall of Fame, is international wrestler, Japanese legend Tatsumi Fujinami, the creator of the Dragon Suplex and Dragon Sleeper hold, also competed in the early days of WWE(F), winning the now-long-defunct Junior Heavyweight Championship in Madison Square Garden. However, his biggest American-recognized accomplishment took place on March 21st, 1991, defeating Ric Flair for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship in the revered Tokyo Dome.

What disappointed me, is WWE failing to realize having other superstars constantly “endorsing” Roman Reigns is not working. They had Daniel Bryan as the first endorsement, with others to follow, and this week it was Mark Henry. If anything, they should have saved Daniel Bryan or another major fan-favorite as the last endorsement to push Reigns along. It shows how WWE is thinking right now, “hey, if we get these big names to ‘Believe’ then the fans will too.” Ugh. I believe if they calmed down out of panic mode, the creative staff could have come up with something better, say, a win over Seth Rollins. A win over Bray Wyatt. A win over Randy Orton. Then have fan-favorite Legends back him. Get “Stone Cold” Steve Austin. Shawn Michaels or Bret Hart. Get Ron Simmons. Why? It was obvious the victory over Daniel Bryan at WWE Fast Lane was not enough. His mic skills are improving, but not enough. Right now the main event looks bleak, and do not be shocked if the live crowd backs Brock Lesnar to win.

I can see a Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar match. But unless we see more than his version of the Five Moves of Doom, there is nothing to keep the crowd interested.

Unless Seth Rollins cashes in of course.

Honestly, the next endorsement needs to come from one man, and one man only… Because he will get the WWE Universe to…

… BO-Lieve!

WrestleMania is a week away and this week, EVERY DAY will feature a column for Pop-Break’s annual Ultimate WrestleMania Preview. Tomorrow we cover Monday Night RAW, and every day this week will feature an in-depth look at the match lineup.

With that in mind, I am saving my energy to get these cranked out of the meat grinder for you wrestling, and non-wrestling fans.
