Our Sound Has Been Likened To: Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Rage Against the Machine. A lot of ’90s stuff.

How do you guys come together as a band?

Good old Craigs List

You opened for Richie Ramone last year – can you talk about that experience – opening up for a true rock legend?

Richie was awesome. He hung out after he killed it onstage and talked for a bit. He seemed like he was really connected and into what he was doing on that tour, or just really, really good at faking it.

What do you love about being in The Fossils?

The freedom to write and perform the type of style we wish was more present out there in music. Whether we are successful or not, its a passion we feel like will never die in us.

There are countless bands performing in Asbury Park right now, what separates The Fossils from everyone else?

There’s no separation. All music is an expression whether a million people hear you or that one awesome dude that comes up to you after a set and says you were kick ass listens. We’re out there as fans of this style of music, we don’t take ourselves more seriously than that. Anyone that see’s that in us is going to have a good fucking time.

If someone reading this interviewing never heard The Fossils before but decided to check you out, what song would you recommend to them in order for them to fully understand what The Fossils is all about?

Currently we’d say “One Way Open.” We just did an interesting recording of it over at Coffee Haus Studios in Freehold. It’s got kind of a ominous vibe to it.

What do you have planned for the rest of 2015?

Write, record and play shows. Pretty standard band stuff. Probably drink a bunch of beers maybe piss and puke on each other once or twice.

The Fossils perform tonight at Happy Mondays at The Wonder Bar with Semiotics and Seasons. Admission is free.
