Legends of Tomorrow Trailer Recap

So this is a lot to unpack. CW’s next DC superhero show will focus around a Justisce-ish League called The Legends of Tomorrow. Now this trailer raises a lot of questions. Where does Hawkgirl (Ciara Renee) come from? Can Stein (Dominic Purcell) become Firestorm without Ronnie (Robbie Amell)? Why bother feeling sad about dead characters if we can just bring every we want back? Either way, the trailer had a lot of fun stuff and here are our Big Three Moments.

Rip Hunter

So I guess there is only room for one cocky British comic book hero on tv at a time. Right on the heels of Constantine’s cancellation, Rip Hunter (played by Doctor Who alum Arthur Darvill) steps in to fill a similar void. As the organizer of the Legends, Rip will seemingly be the shows protagonist and be responsible for guiding the mission as well as keeping all of the competing personalities together. As Stein points out in the teaser, this is not a well oiled machine. There are going to be quite a few bumps in the road and a lot of competing personalities to deal with…especially Heatwave. Do we really need Heatwave?

Ray Shrinks!

This would have made a lot more sense in yesterday’s Arrow finale but we finally, FINALLY, get to see Ray (Brandon Routh) shrink! With all of the footage of him flying around it nearly seemed like it would never happen but at the end of the trailer, Ray proves to Martin (Victor Garber) and Sara (Caity Lotz) that he can indeed miniaturize himself and awkwardly run across the floor. Thank Grodd! Now that he’s doing that, I think everyone would be fine with him ditching the Iron Man getup and going full Ant Man but hey, baby steps.

Vandal Savage

When he touched a strange meteorite, a common caveman was blessed with extraordinary intelligence and the power to live forever. This man would conquer civilizations and be known by many different names such as Alexander the Great, Jack the Ripper, but most importantly Vandal Savage. Revealed as the villain that the Legends of Tomorrow will face in their eleven part mini-series, fans of the Justice League know Savage as a worthy adversary to the League who can match wits with nearly any team. Recently he has been responsible for forming the Legion of Doom and even gone back in time to take control of the Nazi army. The best part is, Savage always brings loads of henchmen and advanced weaponry that should create some fun visuals and work well against each Legends’ individual powers.
