Marley Ghizzone – iZombie

Oh Rob Thomas, you beautiful son of a bitch. You rockstar, you. I love you. First you kill my heart and destroy my soul with Veronica Mars the series. Then you run me over with Veronica Mars the movie. And now, Rob Thomas, you have blessed this earth once more and subsequently murdered me with the masterpiece that is iZombie.

I know fans of the comic were outraged. However, I didn’t know it was a comic so I have no ties to that and therefore don’t care. iZombie, separated from its source material, can stand alone as a great show. You may be small, blond, and female (how dare you) but that doesn’t mean you aren’t intelligent, resourceful, or strong. Just like Veronica Mars, iZombie showcases the inner female power, as well as the correct way to use narration as a storytelling technique.

Liv Moore (Rose McIver) is a quippy and relatable protagonist. She feels like a fully rounded character, not a 2D caricature of a zombie or a woman. The other people that inhabit her world are of course beautiful because it is a CW show after all, but also well written. iZombie is a layered show, if you’re willing to look, and entertaining if you don’t.
