Country music has had an infusion of girl power lately and RaeLynn is joining one of her mentors, Miranda Lambert, to lead the charge.

RaeLynn’s rise to fame began on The Voice as a member of Team Blake but she is one of the few contestants who did not allow her fame to stagnate after the show wrapped. Instead, RaeLynn pursued her dream and is picking up new fans daily. She loves her fans, performing and making music. RaeLynn’s energy is infectious and her personality is so refreshing. She doesn’t appear to hold anything back and she really looks like she loves her life.

Although we have yet to get a full length album from RaeLynn, she has had two huge singles, “God Made Girls,” and “For a Boy,” she is on Blake Shelton’s hit song, “Boys ‘Round Here,” is on tour with one of the most popular country acts of this century, the Rascal Flatts and will be joining Miranda Lambert’s Roadside Bars and Pink Guitars tour.

Pop-Break was fortunate enough to grab a few minutes with RaeLynn in the midst of her touring, recording and reaching out to her fans to chat with her about when we will finally get her debut album, the fight it takes to become a successful musician and kissing boys.

First and foremost, I totally just have to say this, seeing you at Farmborough was great but you kicked off your set with that song, “Boss,” that was amazing. I was stunned and blown away.

You liked it?

I loved it! I was like that is how you start a show.

Thank you!

So did you have a good time at Farmborough?

Oh my gosh! It was so much fun. That festival, Farmborough and LakeShake in Chicago, those have been the funnest festivals that I’ve done so far. The crowds are so great and it was so much fun.

Well I’m glad to hear it. We never even thought we’d get a country music festival in New York so that alone was exciting for us but then the show itself was phenomenal and I have to say though, you really kicked off that show right for me. You totally blew me away.

Aw, thank you!

Obviously you were on The Voice. Did you ever think that you would go from that to writing with Miranda Lambert, doing country music festivals in Chicago and New York of all places, be on a Blake Shelton song and your own song, “God Made Girls” has over 13 million views on YouTube? Did you ever think your journey was going to go this way?

I never thought that The Voice, that one show, would open up so many doors for me in country music but it did. It just goes to show, but the thing about a show like that, you have to go in knowing that show is just going to build your fan base but there is so much work after that. After the show, I still had to get in the van and go all across the United States and go to every radio station and get ready in gas stations, you know what I mean?

It’s so funny because it brings you up but then you just have to build your way back up, but the relationships that you build on that show were just so amazing and I’m just so grateful for it. I have to pinch myself and just know that this is real life and I’m just so beyond grateful for everything.

You’re such a fun person to watch and the songs you write are hysterical so I totally see the fit when you look at how Blake is and how Miranda is; you totally fit in with them and I love watching you perform and I think that everybody else should and does love watching you once they see you.

Thank you. If you follow me on Instagram you know how crazy I am.

Exactly! So, what has been the craziest part of your journey so far if you had to pick one?

If I had to pick the craziest thing, I think I’d have to say one of the coolest things was my Grand Ole Opry debut because all of my family was there and all of the people that I’ve met in Nashville and all my friends, that was such a special moment for me, just being up there and I will never forget it and I got chills singing and it was just the coolest thing ever and being surrounded by the people that love you and have sacrificed so much for you to get to the place you’re at is just really special.

I know you had toured with Miranda, you’re touring with the Rascal Flatts now and then you’re going right back on the road with Miranda, right?

Yes.

How in the world are you staying sane and functioning with that much going on in your life?

I was telling somebody earlier, my schedule has gotten a lot better where I’m traveling on the weekends and I’m home during the week and it’s cool because during the week we can recharge and rest our voice and just kind of hang out and like we’ll have like four days off then four days on and it’s just awesome because like my last day off I’m ready to go back on the road and just kick butt and just do it and I’m so excited about the tour this fall with all of those girls. It’s going to be so much fun. We always have girl parties at night.

So I know you had your EP out this past winter, you’ve had two huge singles, when do we get a full length album or, at least, more music?

I’m thinking my album will be out by the end of this year or probably January of next year. I’m very protective over my album because I’ve worked so hard on it and they’re like, every song is my baby and it’s hard to let it out into the world because you only jump out of the plane once and I just want my record to be absolutely perfect. But there’s a point where I’ve got to realize that I’ve just got to let it go. We’re still finishing up in the studio and it should be probably out by the end of this year, early next year for sure.

You’ve obviously been on one heck of a ride and it’s still climbing for you, what advice do you have for people who are dreaming to break in and fight and do what you do? What’s your best piece of advice for them?

My best piece of advice would be if someone tells you no, just keep on going and it’s really, really, really hard work and the music industry is hurry up and wait. You could be doing so well and then one second you just don’t know what to do and that’s just how the music industry is but you’ve just got to know that if it’s what you want to do and you have fans, you can make it through anything. Just always keep, if that’s your passion, it takes a lot of hard work but you can totally do it.

Alright so this is a question I like to ask, especially people like you who are fun, what is the most ridiculous question you’ve been asked in an interview?

The most ridiculous question that I’ve been asked in an interview. Oh my gosh I’m trying to think. That’s hard! I hate it when people ask me how many boys I’ve kissed. That irritates me. Because I’m just like I don’t really know. I think that, when they ask questions like that, how am I supposed to answer that without like, of course I’ve kissed a few boys! I’m a girl. I think those are like the funny questions.

That’s funny. What does that have to do with music?

I know I’m like why do you have to know that about me?!

Okay! So that’s definitely a weird one. Like David Fanning said the weirdest thing he was asked about was his twerking skills so don’t worry the guys get some weird ones too.

Oh, I’m sure the get some really weird ones.

RaeLynn God Made Girls

Playing festivals and performing at festivals and being on tour and doing a whole bunch of crazy things, for you personally, what is your go to thing to wind down?

Well, any time I get off stage I just go to the back of my bus and just hang out for a second and just kind of take some time to myself. And before I always pray.

Last thing, obviously as an up and comer in the music industry right now, it’s important to, I’m sure you get it all the time, like create your brand and really define who you are. What message do you want out there about you and your music for new fans?

I just want to always be that girl that they can look up to and see as a best friend or a big sister. I always want to be real relatable with my fans and I always want my music to tell a story and when someone hears a song they say that’s me and they’re in that position and I always want to be a transparent artist and have the artist that I am be the person that I am. I don’t ever want them to be two separate things.

RaeLynn’s EP ‘Me’ is available on iTunes.
