Michael Schur and Tina Fey to Return to NBC

Tina Fey and Mike Shur are comedic angels. They have both created legendary shows for NBC. 30 Rock, from the team of Fey and Robert Carlock, ran on NBC from 2006-2013. Fey and Carlock recently entered the Netflix game after The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt was turned down by NBC.

Mike Shur created, in my opinion, the best show in the universe Parks and Recreation that ran from 2009-2015. NBC burned off the seventh and final season of the show, debuting all thirteen episodes in little over a month. Don’t even worry though, it was an “event” not a quicky dump so don’t even think about it.

But NBC has realized that they cannot possibly live without the comedic talents of these “beautiful, talented, brilliant, powerful musk-ox.”* And so ~drum roll please~ NBC has ordered two straight-to-order series for both Fey and Shur as reported by Variety. Huzzah, people, huzzah. This is probably the best news I have ever heard in my whole entire life.

Fey and Carlock’s project does not yet have a title but was created by Tracey Wigfield, 30 Rock alum and current The Mindy Project writer. The series focuses on a millennial woman working for a cable network. Her life gets turned upside down though, when her mother becomes an intern for the same network. Fey, Carlock, Wigfield, and Dave Miner from 3 Arts Entertainment will serve as executive producers.

Shur’s project is being kept pretty much under wraps but will feature another strong female lead. The project will center on a “strong, very complicated female character wrestling with what it means to be good,” says Bob Greenblatt, NBC Entertainment chairman says of the show. Though the show does not yet have a writer, it does have a tentative title- The Good Place.

*thank you, Leslie Knope, for the colorful compliments.
