7. The Bloody Angels
Now we’re getting somewhere. This is a very notable example of gruesomeness from the show, as it involves one of the show’s notorious tableaus (kind of like art projects gone horribly wrong). For this crime, the killer took his two victims and cut their backs up. He then took fishing wire and hung the flaps of their skin up like wings. The result is two naked angels kneeling in prayer, their muscles and spines exposed for all to see. It is in some way kind of beautiful (though I have better examples later on). Interestingly, NBC was fine with this grisly picture, save for one detail. Originally, the bare behinds of both the man and woman kneeling were shown. NBC thought it was indecent and so, to remedy the problem, their backsides were covered with more blood.
