AMC ordered a Seth Rogen and Breaking Bad showrunner Sam Catlin project directly to series yesterday. The show is based on the popular ‘90s comic, Preacher, created by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon. Though the release date is set for mid-2016, AMC has already ordered 10 one hour episodes of the comedy filled drama.

Rogen, along with Evan Goldberg (This Is The End, Superbad, Neighbors,) have a connection to the prominent comic. Said the duo, “We started reading the comic when it first came out in the ‘90s. In many ways Garth’s sense of drama and comedy and Steve Dillon’s visual aesthetic helped form our style, and the idea that we are actually bringing ‘Preacher’ to life is a dream come true. This is the craziest thing ever and we can’t wait to move forward and work our asses off to make it the best it can be.”

Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper, Agent Carter,) after having being inhabited by a mysterious entity, has developed an unconventional power. Preacher follows Custer, his ex girlfriend Tulip (Ruth Negga, Agents of SHIELD,) and Irish vampire Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun, This Is England) on their journey to find God.

Rogen and Goldberg directed the pilot, which was written by Catlin. Ian Colletti as Eugene Root aka Arseface, W. Earl Brown as Hugo Root and Lucy Griffiths as Emily have been announced as series regulars.
