Pre-Trailer Thoughts: Tarantino’s films have always been an experience to me. In other words, I may not always see them in theaters, but whenever I watch them, I’m completely entranced with everything he puts to film. The Hateful Eight, I’m sure, will fall into the same territory. –LJF

Pre-Trailer Thoughts: It’s really hard to not be excited for each and every new Quentin Tarantino film at this point. Hateful Eight sees him return to the Western genre just like his last film Django Unchained, and hopefully this will continue his string of success in the genre. – JTM

Rate the Trailer: 5 out of 5. What we see is two and a half minutes and by the end you know very little about what is going on. It’s a damn good trailer for that reason alone. Taratino staying to the west is a good move, only because Django Unchained was a ton of fun and I have no doubt that this follow up is going to be blast because of its setting. The movie looks gorgeous to boot, and how can you beat that cast? It’s the best Tarantino has assembled since Pulp Fiction to be honest. All in all, this looks amazing. I’m sure the soundtrack will kick ass too.-LJF

Rate the Trailer: 5 out of 5. With Django, Tarantino showed that his distinctive style translates very easily into an Old West setting. Hateful Eight further reinforces how perfect the violence and drama of the time work with the writing and directing of Tarantino. The conversations are tense and steeped with dark humor, the cinematography of the Rocky Mountains is gorgeous, and the characters are lively and varied. His use of an ensemble cast is closer to Reservoir Dogs or Inglorious Basterds than Django, but character interplay is one of his strong suits and forcing the characters to remain in close proximity to one another due to a blizzard is a setup for some fantastic scenes of his trademark dialogue. Not all of the eight major characters are featured in the trailer, but it certainly is exciting to see Samuel L. Jackson and Kurt Russell getting major screen time. – JTM

Theater, Rent, No Thanks, Undecided? Theater (hopefully). I’ve only seen two of Tarantino’s flicks in the theater, so my track record isn’t so good here. However, since I will have some time off from work for the holidays, a viewing of this in the cinema could easily be managed. I’ll do my best. If not, it’s a top of the pile rental come release on home video. –LJF

Theater, Rent, Undecided, No Thanks? Theater. It would take a lot for me to not go out to see a new Tarantino film in the cinema. With luck a theater within driving distance will be one of the few to show the film as it was intended, in a full 70mm print. – JTM
