The WWE-EK

week-1024x481

Before I start typing, one of my girls comes up to me and tells me that “wrestling isn’t nice, because hospital things aren’t good.” Guess my kid knows more than I do.

Survivor Series led into a Monday Night RAW which appeared to lack direction. The show, while having a few good matches overall seemed a bit thrown together. Various memes surfaced online, or I should say, re-surfaced with many having disdain for the sudden change in creative direction. Later in the week, we got a triple threat match with Dolph Ziggler, Dean Ambrose, and Tyler Breeze fight it out in a number one contenders match for the Intercontinental Championship held by Kevin Owens. I have no complaints about seeing Ambrose vs. Owens, or Ziggler vs. Owens, or even Breeze vs. Owens. I do have a problem seeing Ambrose and Ziggler, two guys who up until last week were poised in the main event tier suddenly thrown back down to mid-card status. Ambrose had a huge build leading to inevitably Roman Reigns’ first WWE Championship. Yet, days later, Ambrose is thrown back down the ladder.

Ziggler has been shafted over and over, it is painfully clear WWE has no faith in him to be main event material. So, now that Seth Rollins had a major injury, does that mean he will never see a main event run ever again? Although, John Cena and Randy Orton have a dozen injuries EACH yet they seem to always be handed a main event spot whenever they damn well please.

Something is going on here. You have such amazing talent, yet only a fraction of it seems appreciated by WWE Creative, yet 100% appreciated by fans.

Look, I worked there. I understand, there are storylines to be followed, there is merchandise to be sold, there are rules to stick to. They cannot have Ziggler, Cesaro, Owens, Ambrose, Barrett, and even Del Rio all in the main event all the time. You have the “big guys” which WWE billed as the top tier, and everyone else can occasionally be challenger.

I just feel with the increase in NXT talent seeping onto the main roster, things will have to change. With Seth Rollins as champion, we got some great matches with Cesaro, Ambrose, and Ziggler, all with the potential to be believable that one of those guys could win. But with Sheamus and Reigns up there, it feels as though it won’t happen.

Maybe I am looking at this all wrong, but for a while, I was really excited to watch, suddenly, I have some bad vibes.
