Aaron Sorkin to Make Directorial Debut

Aaron Sorkin has made his career as a writer. Sorkin created the long running political drama The West Wing and penned films such as The Social Network, Moneyball, and most recently Steve Jobs. The Wrap reported earlier today that Sorkin will be making his directorial debut with Molly’s Game.

In 2014, Sorkin signed on to write the screenplay adaptation of Molly Bloom’s memoir Molly’s Game. Bloom was a top tier skier but failed to get into the Olympics. She decided to take a year off and become a waitress which led to her organizing poker games for some of the biggest players in Hollywood.

Sorkin originally planned his directorial debut with The Politician but with the stalling of that project he turned his attention to Molly’s Game. The Social Network producer Mark Gordon has also signed on to the project as well as producer Amy Pascal.
