Zootopia Trailer

Release Date: March 4th, 2016

Starring (the voices of): Jason Bateman, Ginnifer Goodwin, Idris Elba, Alan Tudyk, Bonnie Hunt, J.K. Simmons, Shakira, Tommy Chong, Octavia Spencer

Director: Byron Howard (Tangled, Bolt) and Rich Moore (Wreck-It Ralph)

Pre-Trailer Thoughts: Zootopia is the next film for Disney Animation Studios. It has its work cut out for it, since it follows massive hits such as Frozen, Wreck-It Ralph, Big Hero 6, and Tangled. Can it deliver another win for the company? -LJF

Pre-Trailer Thoughts: After a period of uneven releases in the mid-2000s, Disney Animation Studios has righted the ship the past few years and given us a consistent string of quality animated movies including Big Hero 6, Frozen, Wreck-It-Ralph, and the massively underrated Winnie the Pooh. Zootopia looks to continue what is arguably Disney’s best run of animated feature films since the early 90s. I’m hoping they’re able to keep the streak going. – JTM

Rate the Trailer: 4 out of 5 I’m sorry, but this Sloth gag gets me every time. In any case, Zootopia looks to be a fun, entertaining flick that hopefully stays in line with the past animated films Disney has released; it can be a good time for kids AND adults. The cast is also awesome and it visually looks stunning. Here’s hoping for the best. –LJF

Rate the Trailer: 3 out of 5. I’m not 100% on board yet. Something about using anthropomorphic animals to tell an otherwise generic looking crime story seems like something a Disney imitator would be doing, not a studio which has given us such a wide variety of animated films over the past half decade. I still enjoy some of the jokes regarding the unexpected ways a society of animals would be run and I expect there to be a lot of great hidden sight gags in the film (although the Sloth controlled DMV joke has been run to death for me at this point thanks to it being featured so heavily in ads before). But as of now I just don’t see that same Disney magic that we’ve come to expect from them of late. – JTM

Theater, Rent, Undecided, No Thanks? Theater. I’ve already requested the review for this on the site, so Zootopia is definitely on my cinematic viewing radar. While I don’t expect it to win me over like Wreck-It Ralph did a few years back, I have a strong feeling this will be an enjoyable adventure nonetheless. –LJF

Theater, Rent, Undecided, No Thanks? Rent. I’ll likely be waiting to watch this one later on. Apart from Zootopia, Disney is also releasing Moana later this year and I’m frankly more excited for that feature. I try and make it a point to keep up with Disney Animation Studio’s releases, but I’m more willing to spend money to go see Moana than Zootopia in the theater. – JTM

Zootopia gets wild on March 4th, 2016
