Pop-Ed: Top 10 Most Anticipated Movies of 2016

3. Deadpool

Release Date: February 12th

Starring: Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, TJ Miller, Ed Skrein, Gina Carano

Director: Tim Miller

As ridiculous and zany as these trailers have been, I still feel like they are holding a lot back.  I know Ryan Reynolds has had a rough go of it since 2011’s Green Lantern.  In retrospect, he was wrong for that role, even though I lay blame mostly at director Martin Campbell, but that’s a story for another day.  In regards to Deadpool – Ryan Reynolds was born to play this role.  He got short changed in 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine, easily the worst of the X-Men films.  There’s no doubt they are fully embracing the character.  Rated-R.  Breaking the fourth wall.  Constant quips.  And unlike a lot of MCU films where the humor is forced, this is what Deadpool should be.  It’s all organic to the character.  I have high hopes for this film, and am expecting a hilarious bloody mess.
