WrestleMania 32 Results

mania2016resultsWell, WrestleMania 32 ended much later than it should have. I’ll run through this quick, and get to the point.

Pre show consisted of THREE matches:

Kalisto retaining the United States Championship against Ryback in a rather uneventful match.

Team Total Divas defeated Team BAD & Blonde in another match no one bothered to watch.

The Usos defeated the Dudley Boys in a decent match, post match the Usos planted both Dudleys through tables. Nothing crazy, nothing special.

The show itself kicks off with the Intercontinental Championship match. After a long bout filled with crazy spots, dives, and ultimate carnage, The Miz was able to climb the ladder and grab the title, until ZACK RYDER knocked Miz off and pulled it down.

Yes, ZACK RYDER won the Intercontinental Championship in the opening match of WrestleMania. The fact I did not predict my own Broski winning makes this win even better, because NO ONE saw this coming. Good for Zack Ryder. Big respect to him for being granted this win.

Special nod to Cody Rhodes, incorporating Dusty Rhodes yellow polka dot ring attire into his own, with the words “Hard Times” on the back, and even using a black and yellow ladder during the match. Very touching.

Chris Jericho defeated AJ Styles in a good match. What is significant is Jericho appearing to have gained the final victory in their long feud. I felt the feud should have ended after their last match. This does not hurt AJ Styles, since he will likely go against other mid-tier names in order to continue developing his character in the company. For Jericho, it boosts his heel-factor.

The League of Nations defeated The New Day. This shocked me. I did not expect New Day to lose. The best part, was the entrance. The New Day, decked out in DBZ Sayian Armor, coming out of a giant box of Booty-Os. The promo was epic, and the match was pretty damn good.

After the match was over and the League celebrated, they wound up getting their asses handed to them by Shawn Michaels, Mick Foley, and Stone Cold Steve Austin. The three legends danced with New Day, until Austin spoiled the party by hitting a Stunner on Xavier Woods.

I was disappointed by one of our featured marquee matches, as I felt it did not live up to the hype. Brock Lesnar defeated Dean Ambrose after 13 suplexes and the use of various weapons throughout the ring. Ambrose unfortunately did not seem to get the extreme engines running, however credit to Brock for selling everything Ambrose hit him with. I thought WWE would have surprised us with an Ambrose win, but not tonight.

So this was special. The match between Charlotte, Sasha Banks, and Becky Lynch was not for the now-retired Divas Championship, but for the newly minted WWE Women’s World Championship, a white and red version of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. The match was awesome. All three made it memorable. Lynch had some wardrobe malfunctions during the bout. Charlotte stole the win by forcing Lynch to tap out, while Ric Flair held Banks outside the ring to prevent her from breaking it up.

Moving right onto Hell in the Cell, the match was short and to the point. Taker owned Shane for most of the match, action spilled to the outside of the cell, where Shane took the leap of faith, jumping off the top of the cell and wound up planting himself through an announce table. Taker hits the tombstone back in the ring and mercifully ends it.

In a shock, BARON CORBIN won the Andre the Giant Battle Royal, last eliminating Kane. Some nice surprise entrants, Diamond Dallas Page, and Shaquille O’ Neal. It was pretty entertaining to watch O’Neal and Big Show go at it.

Yet another surprise, the Rock comes out to announce the crowd attendance record. Then, the Wyatt Family comes out, and the Rock has an impromptu match with Erick Rowan, which he wins in six seconds. Then… JOHN CENA returns to help the Rock fight off the Wyatt Family. I would say more, except the segment went way too long.

It is way past 11pm at this point and we have the worst match of the night. We get some very strange Mad Max sort of entrance from Stephanie and Triple H. As Roman Reigns comes out, the crowd boos are suddenly drowned out as it is painfully obvious WWE production is trying to drown out and mute the sounds from the live crowd. Twitter lit up revealing how over 100,000 people are booing the crap out of Roman Reigns, as he claims the WWE Championship yet again.

At least Stephanie took a solid spear.
