There are very few geek-centric holidays in the year, in just a few weeks we will be knee deep in Star Wars memes as May the Fourth approaches. But where’s the love for April? Star Wars can’t be the only sci-fi cinematic cultural touchstone to earn its own day of celebration.

It appears Alamo Drafthouse, 20th Century Fox, and Mondo would also agree. Last week, Drafthouse CEO Tim League announced the famously unconventional theatre is coming to Brooklyn this summer. With the new theatre nearing the final phases of construction on 445 Gold Street in downtown Brooklyn, Alamo Drafthouse, along with Mondo and 20th Century Fox, will be hosting a screening of Aliens at New York City’s Town Hall on April 26. Claiming the date as LV-426/Alien Day, the screening will act as an unofficial start to the arrival of the New York branch.

But every holiday needs a Santa Claus, and since chest-bursting Facehuggers are sadly a thing of fiction, LV-426/Alien Day and the Town Hall screening will be kicked-off by one of the most kick-ass women of science fiction cinema, Ellen Ripley herself and everyone’s lady crush, Sigourney Weaver!

The screening, the first of many events to come, will be a unique event featuring a slew of Xenomorph mayhem, including a custom video pre-show and an exclusive Mondo Alien t-shirt designed by Jay Shaw, only to be sold that day (4/26). After that, they’re gone! In addition to the Ripley shirt, Mondo will be offering a series of vinyl merchandise, posters, and other collectibles inspired by the franchise.

So attention to all fellow sci-fi cinephiles and space cadets, mark LV-426/Alien Day on your calendars. Join Alamo Drafthouse, Mondo, and Sigourney Weaver at NYC’s Town Hall for an exclusive and rare screening of Aliens and a chance to buy limited Mondo loot on April 26th. Bust out your orange tabby cats and your fresh Ripley-inspired Reebok high tops, and buy your tickets at AlamoAliens.com.
