Pre-Trailer Thoughts: The Ice Age film series is not one that has really appealed to me, despite my interest in animated films in general. I caught Continental Drift on a field trip and was bored out of my mind, for lack of a better phrase. Even though I didn’t dig it, it seems to be that these movies appeal to an audience that help the franchise continue one way or another. Eh, oh well. -LJF

Pre-Trailer Thoughts: I am frankly surprised that the Ice Age series has lasted as long at it has, going on 14 years now. Then again, looking at the box office receipts for the previous four films in the franchise, it’s clear these are huge money makers for Blue Sky Studios that basically just print money for them. I actually haven’t seen any of the other movies in the series beyond the first film. Could this new trailer help get me invested in these movies again? – JTM

Rate the Trailer: 1 out of 5. There’s nothing here that made me laugh or kept me interested. I will say that the animation is gorgeous and that’s why it is getting a point. Otherwise, it seems like the same stuff that happened in the last three movies and that’s why I’m not signing up. -LJF

Rate the Trailer: 2 out of 5. Maybe I’ve just been spoiled by the recent spate of excellent animated films including Inside Out, Zootopia, and even Blue Sky’s own The Peanuts Movie, but the trailer for Collision Course just screams “this will make money no matter how good it is”. The jokes are all played out to the point where even children should recognize how hard they appeal to the lowest common denominator. The physical humor is lacking in visual creativity and seem to mostly involve just characters getting hit with something. It’s as if these movies have stagnated since the first one and are almost relics of a time when animation studios could bank on any 3D-animated movie making lots of money regardless of quality. – JTM

Theater, Rent, No Thanks, Undecided? No Thanks. If I haven’t made it clear by now, the Ice Age flicks are not my cup of tea, and therefore I will completely pass on the upcoming fourth film. -LJF

Theater, Rent, Undecided, No Thanks? No Thanks. Count me out. Nothing here showed me that these films have tried anything new since the first one in 2002 and if I have to save my money to see one animated movie this summer it’ll be for Finding Dory. – JTM

Ice Age: Collision Course crashes into theaters on July 22nd, 2016
