While visiting the set of the DC Films project, IGN has revealed Willem Dafoe role in the Justice League. Dafoe’s casting was announced this past April leaving fans wonder what his involvement would be. Now he will be co starring a Nuidis Vulko the Atlantean science advisor to Aquaman.

Dafoe’s take on Vulko will look different from his in-print counterpart, rather than being depicted as semi-balding and portly, he will be scruffy and long-haired. While speaking with IGN, costume designer Michael Wilkinson also pointed out Vulko’s armour, which is silver-laced and more worn than Aquaman’s.

Having served on Aquaman’s council, Vulko is a major supporting character in the DC universe, even sometimes villainous. His New 52 incarnation is much more politically motivated, manipulative, and treasonous. The Atlantean scientist has only appeared in animated features, including “Justice League: Flashpoint Paradox” and the sadly short-lived “Young Justice”. Although his appearance has been announced for the Justice League movie, it may be assumed he will appear in the solo Aquaman film, starring Jason Mamoa.

Justice League will be released November 2017.
