If you had Guardians of the Galaxy as the highest grossing superhero film of 2014, you’re lying.  But that’s exactly what happened.  What turned into a few cute trailers with a rag tag team of unorthodox heroes became a cult phenomenon in the summer of 2014.  The sequel is fast approaching, and the entire Guardians gang was there to show the hungry Hall H crowd what we can expect with one of the most hotly anticipated movies of 2017.

Director James Gunn was begrudgingly flanked by ravagers who heckled the hell out of the cast and crew (the best was them saying “Do you even lift bro?! to Dave Bautista).

Director James Gunn, alongside cast members old and new, enthusiastically showcased several new tidbits about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.  Among the old guard were Star Lord himself, Chris Pratt, along with Karen Gillan (Nebula), Michael Rooker (Yondu), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), and the literal giant himself, Dave Bautista as Drax.  New cast members included surprise appearances from Kurt Russell, Elizabeth Debicki (Ayesha), and Pom Klementieff (Mantis). That’s enough to get any movie fan going, but of course it was all footage that did all the talking.

As of publishing, the footage which included a scene from the film involving Baby Groot, Yondu, and Rocket Raccoon and scenes featuring Kurt Russell’s character, Ego the Living Planet (also Star Lord’s father), have not been made public. Once they are we will update you asap.

We learned a few things — the Mantis character was raised by Kurt Russell’s character, Ego. Also we find out Ayesha enlists the heroes’ help, but things go “sour” fast.

In a surprise announcement, it was made known that Guardians would be coming to Disneyland in form of a ride called “Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission: Breakout” which will come in 2017. It will feature a scene with the cast, and Benicio del Toro as The Collector. Here’s a video for the development of the attraction:
