The 2016 Fall Movie Preview

Honorable Mention: Patriots Day

Patriots Day Poster Release Date: December 21st (limited)

Cast: Mark Wahlberg, J.K. Simmons, John Goodman, Michelle Monaghan, Kevin Bacon

Director: Peter Berg (Lone Survivor, Friday Night Lights)

Maybe if we had a trailer, this was would be higher.  You can say the same for the director.  Peter Berg is not a great filmmaker.  He’s very David Ayer-ish – aggressively mediocre.  Berg’s one moment of brilliance was Friday Night Lights, which can be argued as the greatest sports movie ever made.  Perhaps he just needs better material, which this may provide.  Being born and raised in the suburbs of Boston, I’ve obviously had my eye on this movie for a while.  It depicts the events surrounding the Boston marathon, including the terrorist manhunt when the entire city was practically on lockdown.  The cast is impressive, although Wahlberg is certainly the epitome of hit or miss.  I wouldn’t be shocked if this ended up being my favorite movie of the fall, but I’m keeping my expectations waaaaaaay down.

Oscar Alert! While it’s pushing a December release, I can’t imagine a Peter Berg film striking a chord with Oscar voters.

  1. Wow! You sound like someone who’s so educated on Fantastic Beasts!

If you were a Harry Potter fan you at least do your fucking research and find out that the beasts are not the focus of the film! I know you’d hoping for an underwhelming box office, but it’s fandangos most anticipated fall film! Stop trying to force your douchey negativity on all of us.

This films is about life in Wizarding America, no about beasts. You don’t care about it because you’re a lazy ignorant asshole who takes everything at face value. You seriously think JK Rowling would give us a story just about creatures? It’s a trilogy, you fuckin’ idiot. And it’s had massively amazing test screening reviews. Please stop writing.
