The Wild Blue Yonder returns!

This past Tuesday, Amazon green lit three pilots to series. One of which is The Tick, starring Peter Serafinowicz. This is the second live action adaptation of Ben Edlund’s quirky, superhero parody since 2001 when Fox launched its own short lived version. Prior to this, The Tick was also featured on a Saturday morning cartoon in the ‘90s.

With its recent successful venture into original series, such as Transparent, Amazon may be giving The Tick another fighting chance. This is especially so since Edlund himself wrote the script for the pilot, along with director Wally Pfister, which premiered in August.

The other two pilots greenlit by Amazon appear to be comedies as well. One entitled I Love Dick which will follow a couple’s exploration into marriage and sex led by an intellectual named Dick (played by Kevin Bacon) and the other, Jean-Claude Van Johnson,a kind of meta comedy centered around real-life martial artist and actor Jean Claude Van Damme.

The Tick is expected to air sometime in 2017.
