Jimmy Kimmel To Host The 2017 Oscars

With award season around the corner, The Academy has officially crowned its champion for their big show.

Jimmy Kimmel announced over Twitter he will host the seasons biggest award show, set to air February 26th, 2017.

Kimmel, who previously hosted the 2016 Emmys, will host the Oscars for the first time in his career. He will succeed Chris Rock, who hosted last years Oscars.

According to Deadline, “Kimmel seems like somewhat of an obvious choice given his relationship with ABC, the network that airs his late-night talk show. ABC now has more say in the Oscars after renewing a deal to broadcast the ceremony until 2028, and the outlet reports the network really wanted Kimmel for the gig.”

The 2017 Oscars will on ABC on February 26th, 2017, while nominations for the award show will be announced on January 24th, 2017.
