Pre-Trailer Thoughts: Back in 2014, the world was introduced to 5 misfits from the outer reaches of space. Based on a non mainstream Marvel comic, Guardians of the Galaxy was adapted into a film and took the world by storm. Breaking box office records, the movie opened doors for crazy comic books to be realized as cinema. With a rocking soundtrack, a ton of humor, and a beloved walking, talking tree, the first film was one of a kind. Can lightning strike twice? -LJF

Pre-Trailer Thoughts: Guardians of the Galaxy wound up being one of the better Marvel movie thanks to its sense of humor and novel approach to a superhero story. It’s detachment from the main storyline of the rest of the heroes wound up being a huge benefit for the film. Can a sequel so removed from the other movies keep up with the rest of the rapidly expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe? – JTM

Rate the Trailer: 5 out of 5. This is one of those trailers I cannot stop watching. Whoever cut this knew that putting Groot (Vin Diesel) at the forefront was going to go over really well. It is a bit of a drag that this part of the movie was showcased in full, but damn, can you ever tire of Baby Groot? Doubtful. I am a fan of everything here. With Sweet’s “Fox on the Run” blaring in the background, this trailer demonstrates that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is going to be a grand time. -LJF

Rate the Trailer: 4 out of 5. A great mix of the epic, sweeping shots typical of most superhero movies and the playful comedy that made the first film so fun. Sweet’s “Fox on the Run” is a great music choice that recalls the amazing soundtrack of the first movie. It’s also nice to see that James Gunn is returning as director. He seems to have more freedom than most other Marvel movie directors and really stretches the boundaries of what to expect from this franchise. – JTM

Theater, Rent, No Thanks, Undecided? Theater. The return of Star-Lord and company is not something I want to miss, especially since Marvel’s recent Doctor Strange was a bland effort. Summer 2017 begins with the galaxy being protected by the least likely crew for the job. I cannot wait. -LJF

Theater, Rent, Undecided, No Thanks? Theater. In an era of increasingly dour superhero films, its nice to know that a few films and filmmakers still know how to have fun. I’ll definitely be seeing this opening weekend. – JTM
