Pop Break Live: WMMR’s MMR*B*Q featuring Godsmack, Live, Bush, The Pretty Reckless, The Struts, Zakk Sabbath, Rival Sons, Stolen Rhodes, and Dinosaur Pileup at the BB&T Pavilion in Camden, NJ

Philly’s rock station WMMR held their yearly MMR*B*Q this past Saturday at the BB&T Pavilion in Camden, NJ.

The impressive lineup included: Godsmack, Bush, Live (who were reunited with original lead singer Ed Kowalcyzk), The Pretty Reckless, The Struts, Zakk Sabbath (featuring Black Label Society’s Zakk Wylde on lead vocals and guitar), Rival Sons, Stolen Rhodes and Dinosaur Pileup.

The all-day festival opened up with a great set from Philly’s own Stolen Rhodes, who were special guests of MMR jock, Jaxon.

There were so many great sets performed throughout the day but there were a few moments that really stood out. Getting to see Pennsylvania’s Live perform, reunited with original lead singer Ed Kowalczyk was pretty cool. After all these years they didn’t seem to miss a beat.

WMMR has always had a very special relationship with Chris Cornell, who suddenly passed away on May 17th so it was only fitting that DJ Pierre Robert lead the crowd in a toast to him. Having influenced so many musicians it was no surprise that there were many covers to honor him during the day.

But it was Taylor Momsen of The Pretty Reckless and her tribute to him that really stood out. Fighting back tears she performed a beautiful emotionally charged cover of Like A Stone. Having opened for him in Detroit the night he passed and having expressed numerous times in interviews that Cornell was an idol of hers I can’t imagine how difficult that must have been. The audience really showed her the love afterward.

It was what I call a “moment.”
