Pre-Trailer Thoughts:
Oh Pixar. You used to be the best player in the animation game, but the last few years you’ve been disappointing. Not having a clear winner of a film since Inside Out, the studio has tries to tap back into their creative genius with Coco, a movie that looks (and feels) a lot like The Book of Life (2014), sharing the Dia De Los Muertos vibe and musical atmosphere. Still, Pixar knows how to work their magic, and I’m hopeful this film proves to be a solid point in their library before the long awaited Incredibles 2. -LJF

Pre-Trailer Thoughts: Man, does Pixar need a home run here. Cars 3? Yikes. The Good Dinosaur? Not so much. Even Finding Dory was a step behind Pixar’s usual excellence. They need something big here, and form initial buzz — maybe Coco is it. -BB

Rate the Trailer: 3 out of 5. Coco looks beautiful and the trailer features some cool visuals, along with some great music. I can’t really go beyond those thoughts because we don’t know much about what is going on, and I do respect that feature. It does appear far different from The Book of Life which is a good thing. -LJF

Rate the Trailer: 3.5 out of 5. I’d like to see another trailer for this because it did remind me a little too much of The Book of Life, as mentioned by my colleague. It’s visually stunning, but I need a little more substance. -BB

Theater, Rent, No Thanks, Undecided? Theater. Due to tradition with my lady, we always go see the new Pixar/Disney film that releases on Thanksgiving Eve, and this is no exception. I’m hoping it’ll be far better than The Good Dinosaur, which’ll be two years old at the release of this film. Guess we will wait and see. -LJF

Theater, Rent, No Thanks, Undecided? Rent. I really need another trailer before making my ultimate decision to plunk some money to go to theaters to see this movie. It looks stunning, but like I said I need more substance in another trailer. I think there’s major upside here, but I need to see it. -BB

Coco strums its way into theaters on November 22nd, 2017
