Pre-Trailer Thoughts: After The Force Awakens brought the Star Wars franchise back to life following a set of three forgettable prequels, plans were set in motion for an obvious next chapter in this third trilogy. However, when the credits rolled on J.J. Abrams’ film, many fans wondered how the next installment would utilize its new characters, especially Rey (Ridley), who became the focal point of the last film. Also, what kind of internal conflict would Kylo Ren (Driver) showcase? We won’t have to wait too much longer to find out, and a new trailer dropped last night to help us pass the time. -LJF

Pre-Trailer Thoughts: I’m hyped for this movie even without seeing a trailer. The teaser that came out in the spring was good, but it seriously needed something more. -BB

Rate the Trailer: 4 out of 5. I’m really digging what I’m seeing here, both visually and emotionally. Johnson is bringing a touch to this that is very welcome. However, I feel that this thing gives away a little too much, and that’s disappointing, considering The Force Awakens did so well keeping things under wraps so that fans and new audiences could enjoy stuff they knew nothing about. Oh well. Still a damn good preview. -LJF

Rate the Trailer: 4 out of 5. Pop Break’s film editor Dan Cohen hated this trailer. I did not. However, I can see his point. There could be a lot of spoilers in this trailer…could is the optimal word. There’s stuff that could be construed as spoilers, and some that may just be — but I don’t think Rian Johnson or Disney is stupid enough to do that. Outside of that I thought this trailer was pretty fun, and I’m hyped. -BB

Theater, Rent, No Thanks, Undecided? Theater. I mean, it’s Star Wars. Why wouldn’t I see it in theaters? -LJF
