Pre-Trailer Thoughts: Wonder started off as a New York Times best-seller book by author Raquel Jaramillo. The cover of the novel immediately grabs you, as it did for me when I saw it multiple times in my various teaching jobs. Now, Hollywood decided to take the popular story and bring it to the big screen. As in any book to film adaptation, the question is: will it do the story justice? -LJF

Pre-Trailer Thoughts: Wonder is the stuff of either Oscar dreams, or a Lifetime original movie. -BB

Rate the Trailer: 3 out of 5. If the trailer alone doesn’t tug at your heartstrings a bit, then you have no soul. However, I feel like the tale of August/Auggie (Tremblay) has pretty much been told in under three minutes already. What else can the movie expand on? Is there something more to it? In any case, Tremblay looks like he’s giving it his all here, which is no surprise considering the acclaim he earned for Room. Still, we will see if the movie can elaborate on what we saw in the trailers. -LJF

Rate the Trailer: 2 out of 5. Yeah, this isn’t a movie for me. It’s about as paint by numbers inspiration a trailer as you get. Ethan Tremblay looks to be an Oscar contender here, but other than that, I’ve seen this trailer a million times before. -BB

Theater, Rent, No Thanks, Undecided? Rent. Wonder will probably be a Red Box selection at some point. Hopefully fans of the book are satisfied with the movie version of it. -LJF

Theater, Rent, No Thanks, Undecided? No Thanks. Yikes, this movie just looks predictable and schmaltzy as hell. I will stay far away from this one — which means it’s going to be littered with Oscar nominations, of course.

Wonder is in theaters this Friday, November 17th, 2017.
