WWE Survivor Series Preview

It’s one of the Big Four Corner PPV’s tonight! They’ve driven home the point of “Raw vs. SmackDown” in singles and team matches. We also get some surprise bonus pre-show matches, kicking off at 5pm, where the main show starts at 7. WWE has made a positive habit of loading the pre-show with some good stuff lately.

The preshow features Kalisto vs. Enzo for the Cruiserweight Championship. I am a bit bummed this wasn’t on the main show, but since the pre-show is just as good, I’ll accept it. This will be one of two matches to energize the crowd. The other bout to rally the live audience will be the recently announced Kevin Owens/Sami Zayn vs. Breezango. This will be very entertaining, and expect a ton of comedic insanity to grace this one. Owens will thrive as a cynical straight-man for the antics. The third pre-show, which will likely be a bit less on the excite-o-meter, features Matt Hardy vs. Elias. Filler, but no shortage of fun to watch.

Onto the main show, it’s all about RAW vs. SmackDown.

Women’s Survivor Series Match: Team RAW (Nia Jax, Asuka, Sasha Banks, Bayley, & Captain Alicia Fox) vs. Team SmackDown (Carmella, Naomi, Tamina, Natalya, & Captain Becky Lynch) This match will be interesting. We just had a recent title change, which changed members of the SmackDown team. I hope we don’t get the overly drawn-out animosity, where one team completely implodes because of egos. Out of all the matches, I see that here.

Men’s Survivor Series Match: Team RAW (Samoa Joe, Finn Balor, Braun Strowman, Triple H, & Captain Kurt Angle) vs. Team SmackDown (John Cena, Randy Orton, Bobby Roode, Nakamura, & Captain Shane McMahon) Head-scratching and exciting all in one. Raw has three current roster wrestlers, while Triple H and Angle are the assigned veterans to the stable, while we get Cena and Orton as the two big guns, while Mr. Daredevil Shane-O is captain of the SmackDown stable. It does add a big mystery to the addition of the “big guns” as novelties, and I wonder if guys like Roode, Joe, Nakamura, Balor, and even Strowman will get long ring time or will the “older” veterans be given majority of the spotlight?

RAW: The Shield vs. SmackDown: The New Day: If this took place before the Shield first broke up, the excitement might have been greater, but still exciting nonetheless. I’m grateful Roman Reigns is back, and taking a backseat to main eventing for a while. New Day needed something big, and a marquee stable feud is just what the doctor ordered. Expecting some crazy-level action for this one.

Tag Team Champions Match: The Bar vs. The Usos: We have seen some insanity from New Day vs. The Usos. We’ve see some ridiculous matches between The Shield and The Bar. I fully anticipated an all-out war/brawl-level contest with Bar and Usos. Plain and simple, this might be the shocker match of the night. Maybe not the match of the night, however I have full expectation of high impact bumps.

Women’s Champion Match: Alexa Bliss vs. Charlotte: Wondering if WWE did not have the faith in Natalya to carry the match. This will be a good match, for some reason I have reservations if it will be stellar, but will be good nonetheless.

Mid-tier Champions Match: Intercontinental Champion The Miz vs. United States Champion Bacon Rorbin: Okay, this could be the strangest match. I feel the crowd will initially back The Miz, but could swing depending on Corbin’s performance tonight. Two heels, yes, but Miz will likely have the most support.

The Main Event: WWE Champion AJ Styles vs. WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar

Well, it seems like no one really wanted to see Jinder Mahal take on the Beast, so instead we get AJ Styles in his spot, and I believe this made everyone happy. Except for Jinder. This one falls under the category of “Never thought I’d see this” because I don’t think anyone ever expected to see Styles share the same arena, let along a ring with Brock. Styles is much smaller than Brock but is way more versatile and Heyman did a tremendous job of putting over Styles as a credible threat to Brock. Something which The Rabbi of Wrestling did a complete opposite of on Mahal. If anything, Heyman BURIED Mahal. The question  here, is whether Brock will completely dominate and toss Styles around, or will we get a surprise tonight.
