Straight men, power tops and manly lesbians: Chances are that you will get stuck watching a romance film this Valentine’s Day. In order to avoid watching some Ashton Kutcher or Kate Hudson piece of crap, why not save your sanity and Netflix one of these fine films that wont make you want to strangle your partner?

THE BASIC ROMANCE: Amelie

In this French film, starring Audrey Tautou, Amelie is a beautiful but shy girl in Paris who discovers a box in her apartment wall and it leads her on an adventure to help others find happiness and love for herself.

THE ROMANCE HORROR:High Tension

A French horror film about Marie and Alexia, two college students that decide to spend the weekend at Alexia’s parents house. A late night knock at the door leads to murder and the discovery of obsession.

THE ACTION ROMANCE: Hellboy

Hellboy, the son of the devil, and his band of “freaks” — including his love interest, Liz — must defeat Rasputin and prevent him from bringing Hell to Earth.

THE TEARJERKER ROMANCE: Seven Pounds

THE QUIRKY ROMANCE: Secretary

Maggie Gyllenhaal stars as Lee, a misunderstood ex-cutter, who gets herself a job as a secretary at the law office of E. Edward Grey (James Spader). Her typing mistakes earn her punishments that turn into the strangest love story ever.

THE GAY ROMANCE: Kissing Jessica Stein

Jessica Stein is a Jewish girl searching for love. When she answers a personals ad featuring her favorite poet, she finds herself face to face with another woman and a new experience with love.
