Trailer Tuesday: Cars 2

bill bodkin and logan j. fowler ruminate over the latest from Pixar …

Theater, Rent, No Thanks, Undecided? Rent.
Cars wasn’t my favorite in the Pixar library. In fact, I would say it’s their worst film. Even so, a bad movie by Pixar standards is still a good one. With Cars 2, I originally thought that I would skip it entirely, but I am a Pixar fanboy, so I could definitely see myself giving the flick a chance when it is available to view on DVD. However, I will say that the original Cars did not need a sequel; I’m still waiting for The Incredibles 2, the real follow up that I’ve been looking forward to for years. C’mon Pixar, where is your head at?

Theater, Rent, No Thanks, Undecided: Undecided.
I never saw the first Cars film — just never got around to it. And despite the negative things I’ve heard about the film, I still that Cars could be a fun movie. However, with Cars 2, I have my doubts, could this be the first “bad” Pixar film? It seems to lack the usual Pixar-esque details — fun and excitement combined with a certain amount of heart. Cars 2 just seems to be a whole lot of silly. Tow Mater (Larry The Cable Guy) is mistaken for a super spy while Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson) partakes in a super race in Japan — not exactly a dynamite Pixar plot. But then again this is still Pixar and these guys know how to make a quality film, so it could take us by surprise. So I remain undecided, the trailer shows a fun film, but is it all filler and no killer?

  1. I just happened to notice that cars 2 is falling to the same fate of its predecessor in that its following a highly acclaimed Pixar film ( the first one followed the Incredibles, this one toy story 3). None the less I will go see it in theaters, Ive seen every pixar film in theatres and while Cars is not one of my personal favorites ( it ranks only above A Bugs Life as my least favorite Pixar film) the story seems rather amusing so I will give it a shot. Great observations as always guys!
