Trailer Tuesday: Total Recall

logan j. fowler and bill bodkin scream…give them the air cohagen!!!!!

Theater, Rent, No Thanks, Undecided? Rent. I have to admit, I’m kind of curious to see how the new Total Recall turns out. It’s got a sleek look to it, and that scene of Colin Farrell shooting all the armed dudes in the Rekall station seems to have an intriguing camera style attached. My only beef with the film is that it won’t be as raw as Arnold’s original version; the 2012 version is has been slapped with a PG-13 rating. From what I’ve heard though, this rendition of the movie is closer to the book it’s based on, so maybe the novel wasn’t as graphic as I might assume. In any case, I’m down for a rental. Many people will probably shrug it off due to the love of the original, but I’m liking the cast involved here, and willing to give it a shot. –LJF

Theater, Rent, No Thanks, Undecided? Theater. I think the majority of people out there share my TT partner’s views and I respect that. But I really want to see this version of Total Recall in theaters, like asap. I believe every summer there’s a really strong sleeper film that gets released under the radar and I believe this year it’s Total Recall. I may also be in the minority here, but I am a new-found Colin Farrell fan. Watch In Bruges, Crazy Heart or Fright Night and you’ll see he’s actually a solid actor and finally shows us that potential we also saw when he stole the show from Tom Cruise in Minority Report. As for the film itself, while I enjoyed the Ahnold classic, I think this version will be able to stand on its own two feet as a sci-fi thriller. Plus any film that’s got Bryan Cranston and Bill Night in supporting roles as well as the potential of Kate Beckinsale/Jessica Biel catfight (I know, can I be any more of bro with that statement?) this film will at worst be solid. –BB
