Before I go into this week’s episode of American Horror Story, let’s talk about Zoe going Evil Dead on those zombies last Wednesday. Every horror nerd in the country went berserk when she came out wielding that chainsaw. Though she didn’t quite have the chainsaw arm charisma of Ash, Zoe did a fine job of zombie ass kicking.

Now that I have that out of the way, let’s talk about this week’s episode, entitled “The Axeman Cometh.” As usual, I promise no major spoilers.

Zoe’s (Taissa Farmiga) growing powers lead her to a hidden door where she finds an old Ouija Board. With this board, and joined by Queenie (Gabourey Sidibe) and Nan (Jamie Brewer), Zoe releases a spirit that proves that Madame LaLaurie (Kathy Bates) is not the only serial killer in New Orleans’ past.

The horrible secret in the attic is finally discovered, leaving Spaulding (Dennis O’Hare) to answer a few questions, but how can you answer when you have no tongue?

Cordelia (Sarah Paulson) comes home from the hospital with her new super blue blind eyes. Her second sight helps her see some discretions but an unexpected tryst slips right by her. Despite her extreme strength in her blindness, Cordelia is still susceptible to weakness.

Misty (Lily Rabe) has resurrected yet again. Her kindness results in the death of the one she holds dearest.
Fiona (Jessica Lange) is deteriorating slowly and her unshakable thoughts of finality are closing in. It may not be her illness that kills her in the end.

Questions are finally answered in this episode. Not every questioned is answered but they certainly did a great job of ironing out a few wrinkles. I can only assume this need to clean things up means that things are about to get really dirty really soon.

While certainly an eventful episode, I feel like they went a little gentle on this one in comparison to the past couple of weeks. It was no less impressive, don’t get me wrong on that, but I strongly believe that this episode is a set up for something huge next week. I have my theories on what that may be, but I will let you enjoy the episode and formulate your own.
