Theater, Rent, No Thanks, Undecided? Rent. I am not a massive Godzilla fan like many other people, but that doesn’t mean I have anything against the franchise. While I did check out the 1998 feature, I don’t need to mention that it sucked. However, this new outing of the towering lizard looks good enough to gain my interest, and the cast featured within is awesome. If I can make a theater viewing I’ll go for it, but in the meantime, this is definite rental territory. –LJF

Theater, Rent, No Thanks, Undecided? Theater. Ugh. That was my initial reaction when I heard the news that there would be a new Godzilla movie. The Matthew Broderick-starring film was one of the biggest cinematic disappointments I’ve ever had. I remember being so bought-in on the hype and when I finally saw it, I was so let down, so disgusted at the whole franchise, that I never wanted to watch another ‘Zilla movie again. Remember this was my initial reaction. Then I watched this trailer and my mind was completely changed. I loved the hints and fleeting glances of Godzilla (well until the end). I like the sense of danger, despair and suspense the trailer built through its silence. It’s funny how much silence can be scary. I think Godzilla has the chance to be a really, really fun popcorn movie. I’m not going into it with the unbridled excitement like I did back in the ’90s, but I’m definitely going to be feeling positive walking into the theaters. And Bryan Cranston’s in it…it’s gotta be good!–BB
