Press Release: Indie rocking stalwarts Kid Felix our of Philadelphia, NJ have just released their highly anticipated third EP entitled Rivals, available for purchase now. Single “I Am The River” coincides with a brand new music video which can be found here. John and Brett recently spoke about the process of shooting their first official music video shot with Ambitious Projections, stating “The song itself is about trying to create your own identity in a cookie cutter world where we’re all told what to do and how to act. The video follows that theme to a degree. The main character in the video is trying to bury himself or a part of himself. Maybe he is trying to create his own identity. However, he is also being tormented and chased by himself. The idea is that you can’t run from your past, or the truth”. Rivals, having only been available for two days, is already living in the top 4 EP’s available for purchase on iTunes.

With their signature grunge sound, the band have developed a cultish following, setting the stage for their national recognition. This quintet has manicured their orchestration to perfect their buzzed out, wistful rock. At the helm is lead singer Jake Falana, backed up by John Ambrutis on lead guitar, Brett Hagen rhythm guitar, Julian Ungerer bass, Ken Baxter on the keys, and rounded out with John Szachewics on drums. Combined, their layered instrumentation cements their working class sound with a genuine rock soul.

Just to provide a deeper background, after recording their first EP, Head Above Water, Kid Felix’s accolades started mounting. Soon after the were named one of the regional finalists of the 2012 Hard Rock Rising Global Battle of the Bands, they secured their spots on both the Bamboozle Fest and The Warped Tour. From there, they were named the Artist Of The Month for local station 93.3 WMMR, with their single “Class Action Satisfaction” still on the station’s rotation. Their second EP, Young Luck, was released at the end of 2012 at a raucous party at the historic Theatre of the Living Arts in Philly. At that point, they were asked by Octane to perform with them on their New Years kick off at The Electric Factory. This led to a supporting slot for Silvertide’s sold out reunion as well as opening for Sound Garden and Alice in Chains at the Susquehanna Bank Center. They have also shared the stage with artists such as Three Days Grace, Otherwise, Cold War Kids, and more.
