Notable Openings This Weekend: Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Get out of the way for Captain America. Get out of the way for Marvel. Yadda, yadda, yadda, let’s just get to it.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe brand continues to grow, grow, grow, grow. I can’t leave the house without that damn M being shoved in my face. To put it simply, Captain America: The Winter Soldier will do very well this weekend. The original film opened at $65 Million, but that feels like a lifetime ago for Marvel. Both the original Captain America and first Thor film opened almost identical to each other, and Thor saw a huge bump in his sequel post Avengers. Captain America should increase even more due to crazy positive reviews. And even though Noah fared well last weekend, it virtually has no competition.

How Will It All Break Down…

Captain America’s shield ricochets off every movie theater in America. I really have nothing else to say on the box office this weekend. We could talk about the March Madness Final Four? NBA Draft Lottery? Cadbury Easter Eggs?

TOP 5 BOX OFFICE PREDICTIONS

1) Captain America: The Winter Soldier — $93.5 Million
2) Noah — $24 Million
3) Divergent — $14 Million
4) Muppets Most Wanted — $5.5 Million
5) Mr. Peabody & Sherman — $4.5 Million
