Release Date: June 13

Starring: Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum, Ice Cube, Dave Franco, Rob Riggle, Nick Offerman, Peter Stormare

Director: Phil Lord, Christopher Miller (Lego Movie, 21 Jump Street)

Plot: After making their way through high school (twice), big changes are in store for officers Schmidt (Jonah Hill) and Jenko (Channing Tatum) when they go deep undercover at a local college. But when Jenko meets a kindred spirit on the football team, and Schmidt infiltrates the bohemian art major scene, they begin to question their partnership. Now they don’t have to just crack the case – they have to figure out if they can have a mature relationship. If these two overgrown adolescents can grow from freshmen into real men, college might be the best thing that ever happened to them.

Pre-Trailer Thoughts: With any sequel, there is trepidation that it won’t match the first, and let’s be honest, 21 Jump Street was a movie that was WAY better than anyone could have imagined. –LJF

Pre-Trailer Thoughts: The first film was such a surprise (both creatively and financially) one has to be concerned that the second film will be trying too hard to recreate the same laughs or will overly complicate the plot to the point of absurdity. –BB

Rate the Trailer: (1-5) Three out of five. The film looks like it could be a ton of fun, but to be honest, the plot seems strictly familiar to that of the first movie. There’s a drug and they gotta find it. Ice Cube is loud and says inappropriate things that are meant to be funny. A comedic car chase takes place. The only thing I’m hoping is that the best bits are left to see in theater. –LJF

Rate the Trailer: (1-5) Three out of five. Oh, this could be a good one. The trailer did a good job of assuaging some of those initial fears and that’s what a sequel trailer needs to do. –BB

Theater, Rent, No Thanks, Undecided? Theater. My girlfriend loves Channing Tatum so I really have no choice. Nah, seriously, I’m eager to check out this sequel; the potential for comedic greatness is there. Hopefully the movie isn’t just like it’s predecessor, and if anyone can make something out of nothing, it’s the directors (Phil Lord and Christopher Miller). These guys can make magic, I mean, The Lego Movie was once again, WAY better than it could’ve been. I have faith. Because I pray to Korean Jesus. Anyway, LET’S DO THIS! –LJF

Theater, Rent, No Thanks, Undecided? Rent. I think the movie’s going to be funny and entertaining. I love the duo of Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill. They’re absolutely dynamite together. But when it comes down to time and economics, this movie doesn’t make my “must-see” cut. I don’t think this film’s going to be treading any new ground, that it’s going to be a lot of the same from the first film. Maybe it’s an irrational thought, but the downside of this film is much greater than its upside. –BB
