The WWE-EK: Listen to Your Dean

It’s been a weird week. SummerSlam came and went, and suddenly feels like things are amiss.

Jack Swagger looks like his character is going through depression as JBL bashes him for “letting America down” as Cesaro gets his first win in weeks over the Real American. Bo Dallas seems to have set his sights on Swagger, so there is an obvious starting point for a feud. Pointless feud, but hopefully one which bolsters Swagger’s character back into shape.

Sheamus is the United States Champion, in case you were wondering. It seems as though he should be the next target for Alexander Rusev. It would make sense, right? Rusev defeats the “Patriot” at SummerSlam, then goes for ultimate humiliation by winning the U.S. Title. Instead, his next challenge is answered by Mark Henry, who is also tag teaming with Big Show. My guess is he will defeat Henry, then defeat Big Show, then finally go after Sheamus and the title. Maybe. It makes sense to me.

Speaking of Show, did you see Erick Rowan toss him with a massive bodyslam? How awesome was that!

Here is what does not make sense. Dolph Ziggler wins the Intercontinental Championship. Great. Perfect. About damn time he has a belt on him. Granted, it is the same belt which has cursed its prior title holders, but perhaps this will be the time for Ziggler to get some well-earned attention. I admit to being surprised at them taking it off Miz so abruptly, but it was a good feud. I would really like to see some upcoming Triple Threat or Fatal Four styled matches in the near future. There should always be multiple contenders for the mid-card titles just to give it more meaning.

There are a lot of under-utilized talents right now. It feels as though WWE is rotating the roster. Every couple months, someone else gets a push, and then someone else gets buried. Maybe I’m crazy.

The angle between Stephanie McMahon and Brie Bella just became yet another Bella Family Feud. This had potential, and in one predictable swoop, collapsed. I use this phrase often, but can we please remember more than five minutes into our own pasts? Seriously? Has everyone forgotten the Bella sisters have had two or three feuds already!? I love how WWE.com compared it to when Matt and Jeff Hardy feuded. Sigh. Don’t know where it’s heading now, but as long as Daniel Bryan is out with an injury, there is no place for it go but back to the drawing board.

Announced this week on the WWE Network and WWE.com, John Cena is getting his rematch against Brock Lesnar at Night of Champions. I will point out two things. First, donning the red and yellow? Is he turning into Hulk Hogan? Secondly, should Cena not get demolished this time, many will question the supposed onslaught dished out by Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam. Now, if Brock does in fact make Bratwurst out of Cena for the second time in a row, it no doubt halts Cena’s run in the main event and properly solidifies Lesnar as the company top champion until WrestleMania. It also seems at this point, proven by his glorious work in the past month, how Rabbi of Wrestling, Paul Heyman can consistently and with ease carry a feud without either participant actually being present for the hype. Heyman did it all on his own with “real” promos still based in the WWE fiction. Brock is not the type of guy to wrestle on free TV, so it seems as though the WWE Championship will only be defended at a special event, Pay-per-view stage.

Let’s talk about Dean Ambrose. The guy is awesome. Seth Rollins is awesome. Shame they had to write an injury/vanishing act angle. Oh, don’t know what I am talking about? So, if you watched WWE.com this week, you would see in an interview with Triple H, it is revealed Ambrose “refused medical attention” and now has “completely vanished.” Ooooh. Creepy. Well, he’s shooting for a movie thing for a couple weeks. But don’t you worry, he will be back. His dead-pan delivery is great, but it is when the deadpan attitude becomes Mr. Crazypants, becomes a force in the ring. Ambrose has picture-perfect facial expressions, and his promos kill it every time. Seth Rollins is great as an antagonist. He’s vile, you hate him, you want to hate him, because he’s a jerk. Rollins will continue to roll on and as part of The Authority, with Kane seemingly at his aid, Rollins will continue to weasel his victories and escape defeats.
